Come, come whoever you are: young or old, holding various beliefs, whatever your skin color, whatever your physical abilities, whomever you love, you are welcome here in this religious home.

SUNDAY SERVICES BEGIN AT 10:30AM

JANUARY 3RD:

Fire Communion: New Years is an opportunity for reflection on the past year. What have we gained and what have we lost during the past year? What do we want to achieve or lose during the coming year? We can’t change our past but we do have the opportunity to learn from it and shape our future. Please come share in a service of reflection, contemplation and learning facilitated by Mary Keith.

First Sunday Luncheon: Our lunch theme will be “Something New”. This is your opportunity to try that new recipe that you have been wondering about or to introduce the other eaters to one of your favorites that might be new to them. Or maybe you would just like to fix an old standby with a new twist. Let’s start the New Year with some New Ideas!

JANUARY 10TH:

The Twelve Steps, Do They Work?: We’ll discuss the principles of following the 12 steps and how they affect the lives of the participants and their families, facilitated by Ron Fennell.

JANUARY 17TH:

The Wounded Worshiper: Many of us come to the UU after having harmful experiences with orthodox or fundamentalist Christianity. How do we move forward from these experiences in a productive and authentic way? Come grapple with this challenging issue with presenter Tiffany Sapp.

JANUARY 24TH:

2009’s Top Headlines in American Religion: Dr Joe Howell returns to us with an annual favorite where we explore how American religious experience meets current events in 2009.

JANUARY 31ST:

“We Shall Overcome—Songs of Civil and Human Rights”. Our traveling troubadour Ken Sizemore presesnts a musical program that will include many of the famous songs that were sung in the exciting and hopeful days of the civil andhuman rights movements of the 60s, with works by some of the most important and influential writers of those times, including Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, and Phil Ochs.

As a sample, here are two songs from her recent album “Faerie Goddess”. Elaine will have all of her CDs on sale at the performance.
