The Reverend H. Vann Knight, long-time Unitarian Universalist minister, is offering us a five week series in the study of the Tao Te Ching.  The book consists of a brief introduction and 81 short paragraphs.  Written like poetry, every line is packed with meaning.  This is a course that asks a lot of its participants, but promises a great return on the time invested.

 Time/Dates:                Thursday, January 16:  6:45pm to 8:30pm
                                    Thursday, January 23:  6:45pm to 8:30pm

                                    Thursday, February 6:   6:45pm to 8:30pm
                                    Thursday, February 13:  6:45pm to 8:30 pm
Registration for this event is now closed.  Contact Tiffany at rec@uuofbaycounty.com if you need assistance.

Requirements:

Each of the five sessions would focus on 16 assigned paragraphs.  Each week, each participant would select two of the assigned 16 paragraphs for close attention, writing a reflection of about half a page for each of their 2 selections.  During class, each participant would be invited, but not required, to read their selected paragraphs and reflections.  At the close of each class, the written reflections would be left with the discussion leader who would read and return them with comments.

Due to the nature of this course, participants should expect to spend about 2 hours per week in preparation.

You must purchase and read Stephen Mitchell’s translation of the Tao Te Ching before the first class (here’s where you can buy it)
