UU Fellowship Activity. Come spend the day canoeing or kayaking down our local Econfina Creek.  Meet up at 9 am at UUFBC and then carpool up to the put in place.  It is an all day affair – returning 4-5 pm.
Econfina Canoe Livery [http://canoeeconfinacreek.net] has prices for rentals and some nice photos of the creek.  Check it out if you don’t have your own equipment
George Stevenson has several canoes that can be reserved.  One will accommodate 3, and two others will take 2 plus perhaps a child or youth sitting in the center.  If you are interested in using one of these spots please call him at 850-819-3030 to confirm.  He will transport the canoes to and from the creek.  If you have your own life jackets, or can borrow some, that would be helpful.
If you have your own canoe/kayak and can transport it to and from, please consider joining the group.  It is a beautiful easy creek to canoe.  There are several springs along the trip that we can swim in or just visit.  There are many shady banks that can be used for a lunch or snack break.  There have been occasions when folks have turned over a canoe so be prepared to get wet.  Keep all items secured!
Things to bring: lunch & snacks, drinks [plenty of water], sun screen, bug repellant optional, hat for keeping the sun off, sunglasses with strap, sealed plastic bag/dry bag for any valuables like camera or phone, several big garbage bags for trash or can be worn in case of a rain, rain often leaves you cold.  Wear a swimsuit and bring a towel if you like.  Make sure you have a change of clothes in your car or something dry to sit on when you return to your vehicle.  If you have a small ice chest make sure you have it secured with a rope to keep contents from spilling out in the case of a tipping incident.  All other items are best kept together in a secure bag of some sort.
If you have a kayak that you are willing to loan out for the day, we could put them to good use.  If you know a friend who has one, ask to borrow!  See what a day on the creek looks like at https://youtu.be/yAhmgXrMHsk
Please respond to info@uuofbaycounty.com if you plan to attend and have your own equipment or plan to rent from the livery.   Call George if you need to reserve a spot in one of his canoes.  If you have any other questions you can call George at 850-819-3030.
We look forward to having a wonderful, sunny day on the creek with lots of smiling faces.
Your planning team,
Janet Cross
